The GR-7 is a long-distance footpath which has it beggining in Andorra and it end in Tarifa. This footpath part of the European E-4 that goes from Esparta in Greece to Algeciras, and it has over 11.000km. This route goes through Alpujarra.
This footparth is the first long distance route that was signposted in Spain.
The GR-7 has a choice of two routes around the Spanish Sierra Nevada, one goes to the north of the mountains (Jaén), and the other one to the south below. The Southern Route through the Alpujarra foothills is popular, because it link numerous and small Spanish villages
The route through the alpujarra is about 120km, the maximum elevation that we can reach there is 1773m and a minium of 663m. It goes over beautiful villages, as Lanjarón, Trevelez, Capileira...
